Now located in Lamoureux Park, this historic building
was once located
off Second Street West, across from Domtar. It was
moved because Domtar
said they needed the land on which the Wood House
Museum stood. It's
an outstanding local example of Classical Revival
detailing applied to
Loyalist Vernacular form. It was built in 1840 by
William Wood, a gentleman
farmer. Rectangular in plan and rising one and a half
stories, the dwelling
has a stone main block and brick rear wing. The dressed
cut
stone facade,
the pair of fluted Doric columns, the ornamental woodwork,
the window
and door mouldings, the gabled dormer which is topped
by a simple iron
weathervane, the upper level gallery and the ground
level porch are
exterior features worthy of preservation
